South Portico Decorated for Halloween at the White House, 2019

This photograph of the South Portico festively decorated for Halloween was taken by Matthew D'Agostino for the White House Historical Association on October 28, 2019. For their third Halloween at the White House, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump invited local schoolchildren and military families to take part in trick-or-treating and other family-friendly activities on the South Grounds. During the event, silhouettes of enchanting forest trees adorned the columns of the South Portico to the top of the Truman Balcony, while members of the United States Air Force Strolling Strings performed Halloween songs and popular movie themes amid rows of cascading pumpkins on the staircases leading to the South Portico.
